Titans’ Coach Has Been Fined
Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher received an economic penalty for the comments he made after his team lost to the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday. After the game that ended with a 27-26 score, Fisher criticized the game officials and this earned him a $12,500 fine that can be appealed.
Apparently, Fisher disagreed with some decisions taken during the match but what really bothered him was a call that took place around six minutes after the third quarter started.
Fisher is co-chairman of the NFL competition committee and he has been called a few times to defend the performances of the league’s officials.
During a second and 23 play, Mike Anderson from Baltimore was stripped of the ball following a three-yard run, and Robaire Smith, Tennessee’s defensive tackle, recovered the apparent fumble. Even though referees ruled that Anderson was down by contact prior to the fumble. Fisher challenged the call but, following a video review, the ruling on the field was upheld.
Fisher expects to be heard by the people in charge of the NFL offices in New York, since his team lost by one point and he affirms it was field position.
But Fisher isn’t the only one that has been punished. A few weeks ago Pittsburgh owner Dan Rooney was fined too for criticizing the game officials after the Steelers lost to Atlanta Falcons. His fine was $25,000.
